Quantitative Eeg Analysis, Breakthrough Official Reports Deny
نویسنده
چکیده
Some kinds of quantification are always involved in signals EEG analysis, even in visual inspection. As digital computer technology developed large amounts of data manipulated and new concepts as pattern recognition and event-related desyncronization/synchronization arrived, “eyeballing” EEG interpretation became inappropriate. The problems rose to widespread acceptance and use of QEEG methods for clinical purposes (different filters cutoffs, lack of reproducibility between various software and hardware platforms etc.) are not fundamentals but solvable issues. It rather is the dogmatic reports, such that of American Academy of Neurology and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (1987, 1997) was responsible for that. Because of simplicity and noninvasive character of collection data, EEG remains a powerful tool in clinician hands, yet with a vast unexplored territory. Data mining analysis must provide a clear way to clinical diagnosis, and here demanding efforts are required. Our aim is directed to pattern recognition methods and neural network models in order to specific characterize diseases quite different like Alzheimer, epilepsy or Parkinson disease.

New methods of time series analysis of non-stationary EEG data: eigenstructure decompositions of time varying autoregressions.
OBJECTIVE Those who analyze EEG data require quantitative techniques that can be validly applied to time series exhibiting ranges of non-stationary behavior. Our objective is to introduce a new analysis technique based on formal non-stationary time series models. This novel method provides a decomposition of the time series into a set of 'latent' components with time-varying frequency content. ...
متن کاملThe frequency of EEG abnormalities in children with febrile seizure
Background and Objective: Febrile seizures are one of the most common neurological disorders in children. The aim of this study was to investigate the extent of abnormal EEG reports and their association with other risk factors of febrile seizures. Material &Method: In this prospective observational study, all patients with febrile seizure admitted in Mousavi Hospital in Zanjan, Iran, from Ap...
متن کاملEEG in the healthy term newborn within 12 hours of birth.
OBJECTIVE To characterise and quantify the EEG during sleep in healthy newborns in the early newborn period. METHODS Continuous multi-channel video-EEG data was recorded for up to 2 hours in normal newborns within 12 hours of birth. The total amount of active (AS) and quiet sleep (QS) was calculated in the first hour of recording. The EEG signal was quantitatively analysed for symmetry and sy...
متن کاملComparison of Parametric and Non-parametric EEG Feature Extraction Methods in Detection of Pediatric Migraine without Aura
Background: Migraine headache without aura is the most common type of migraine especially among pediatric patients. It has always been a great challenge of migraine diagnosis using quantitative electroencephalography measurements through feature classification. It has been proven that different feature extraction and classification methods vary in terms of performance regarding detection and di...
متن کاملComputer-Assisted Interpretation of the EEG Background Pattern: A Clinical Evaluation
OBJECTIVE Interpretation of the EEG background pattern in routine recordings is an important part of clinical reviews. We evaluated the feasibility of an automated analysis system to assist reviewers with evaluation of the general properties in the EEG background pattern. METHODS Quantitative eeg methods were used to describe the following five background properties: posterior dominant rhythm...
